Decks are a fabulous extension of your home which can create extra space in an outdoor setting for the whole family to enjoy.   From a small balcony type, to a board  walk over a pond, to a deck with roofing for cover, the options are endless.

We have specific Decking  crews which include qualified Carpenters whom have vast experience in both  Decking, Cladding and Custom Built Projects. Part of our success is the experience and ability to envisage, design and build a Deck feature to facilitate your requirements and needs, and we have been doing it for years.   Please browse through all of our picture galleries to see some of the work we have done to date, you may get some ideas, or design your own customised deck project.

Features can include:

Steps, hand-rail, storage units, timber planters, lighting, seats built in, benches built in and ramps for wheelchair access.  Designs can be inserted on the deck surface to give them added interest and a focal point eg. Diamond design.

The Hardwood Decking we supply is mainly Bangkarai (Balu) or Iroko. However, other types can be supplied on request. Both Bangkarai and Iroko are highly durable and have a low tendency for warping or splitting. They both also have a grooved surface. Handrail to match these woods can be supplied. They are suitable for commercial and domestic use and are commonly used on balconies, roof gardens, walkways and pedestrian bridges. Bangkarai is a light to medium brown in colour and turns to a silvery grey colour over time if not painted. Iroko has a distinct yellowish colour and will turn a yellow brown colour as it weathers if not painted. Small pinholes are a typical characteristic caused by insect impingement which was only active when the tree was standing.

The timber used in decking boards is Spruce. It is pressure treated with an EC approved system called Tanalith E which will prevent rot for at least 15 years. It comes with a grooved or smooth surface and is pale green in colour. However, the colour will fade due to weathering if not painted. It is mainly used for domestic decking.

The timber used is Western Red Cedar imported from Canada. It is lightweight, stable and decay resistant and is highly durable and will weather to an elegant grey finish if not painted. Western Red Cedar has the highest insulating properties of all the coniferous soft woods. It has a smooth finish only and matching handrail is available.

Composite is a low maintenance, high quality decking manufactured from reclaimed wood and plastic resin. It has the natural look of wood including a wood-grain pattern surface and it is less slippery under foot when wet. It will not split, rot, warp or crack and will keep its colour. It is ideal for domestic or commercial use as it is highly durable and especially useful in areas of high usage. It can be supplied with a full range of railings to match. Composite Decking is fitted using a clip system so screw heads are not visible.

All of the pictures in the galleries is actual work supplied and fitted by Woodtown Fencing & Decking.
